Hard to Hear on this Phone October 7, 2008 I bought this phone at OfficeMax but I'd like to share my review. I bought it because it it was only $40 and looks like it should be much more.
PROS: I was attracted to its slimness and small size of the base. I like how the keys light up and I like the display. Speaker phone on handset is nice. I like how the light turns off when it's charging, unlike the Panasonic KX-TG8231B which stays on and is pretty annoying. We live in the woods, and both of these phones go 200 feet out to the road, and then they cut out. My 900 mhz phone goes much further (our 2.4 ghz Panasonic only goes 50-100 ft).
CONS: Quite a few cons, which is why I took this phone back to the store! First, the phone was too slim to hold comfortably. I knew that when I bought it and would have lived with it, but I just though I should let you know. The phone not being able to stand up is a problem as I don't want the face or back to get scratched. You really need it to stand up when using the speaker phone too. Speaking of which, the speaker is too low and I found it hard to hear...and I have very good ears.
The main problem with the phone, was that when you make ANY type of noise, for example breathing, the phone recognizes that and turns down the speaker volume to a near-mute level, so you can hear the person talking on the other end. THIS WAS TERRIBLE! The other thing I hated about the phone was that the answering machine's speaker never turned off! If the refrigerator was running you couldn't tell, but if all was quiet you could hear the answering machine speaker hissing...and never turning off.
I took the phone back and bought the Panasonic KX-TG8231B. It stands on its base, has a loud speaker, doesn't mute the speaker, has the same range, and just feels more solid. I just reviewed that. If the light being on doesn't bother you, get that phone. If you want the light to shut off and can live without the color screen, get the Panasonic KX-TG9331T. I'm going to stick to Panasonic from now on. I know they're good!
DO NOT THROW AWAY YOUR MONEY ON THIS PHONE!!! July 31, 2008 This phone was a total waste of money. The static is absolutely incredible, and it is virtually impossible to hear anything. I almost decided not to buy from Amazon again due to being stuck with this horrible piece of garbage GE calls a phone. I am again shopping for a phone and being sure to stay away from anything with the GE logo. It would be a shame for me to even try giving this phone away. I should have just taken my money and flushed it down the toilet.
Terrible sound quality July 11, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
My friends often complain about reception breaking up when I talk to them on the DECT 6.0. At first I figured it was them and their cellphones, but the problem is consistent. Besides, it never happened with my previous phones. The final straw was when someone asked if I was calling them on my cellphone. They said the sound quality was awful.
Save yourself the trouble and buy something else instead. The DECT is slim, small and attractive, but somehow GE forgot that it's supposed to be a telephone, too. Perhaps a visible antenna would have helped.
Great phone June 5, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Nice design. Works great for me. Can hear people fine and have had no complaints from the people I'm talking too. I enjoy the speakerphone feature and how its located on the phone, not the base so you can be in any room.
Good-looking, but no substance! Don't buy it! March 8, 2008 Don't be fooled by this pretty face. It sounds like you're talking in a tunnel. Voice quality is better on the worst cell phone. I expect more from a land line phone. And, to top it off, the return process with AntOnline is turning into a nightmare. I am not a satisfied customer, and I doubt if I will become one when this is over. I think I have simply wasted my money.
