Cool little gadget at an awesome price November 16, 2008 I don't know whether this product is compatible with the newer ipods, but if you have a 2nd Generation ipod nano and want a voice-recorder, look no further.
Did a lot of research and learned that this little gizmo is by far the best. And it sure is. At $20 can't go wrong.
great icrophone July 8, 2008 I'm a Sweet Adeline and I saw one of the other singers with this microphone. I decided I wanted one. It works great and I couldn't be more pleased. Taping our voices at practice is an important tool for better singing. Using an Ipod and mic is so nice!
this thing sucks March 28, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
i bought this with the intention of recording all sorts of things. it works most of the time, but for some reason it always screws up my ipod. as soon as i remove the thing, my ipod wont play music anymore... it just goes right back to the main menu. this thing is a piece of garbage that isn't even supported by the company anymore. what a bunch of jerks
Bad experience with bad re-seller. February 6, 2008 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
One star is too many.
I purchased this item with some concern based on previous reviews. One review in particular that worried me described how his Nano froze and had to be restarted only after letting the batteries die, after several days, because the recording unit software somehow had basically hi-jacked the Nano and would not shut down.
I had the EXACT same experience, and had to wait 2 days to restart my Nano (my daughters). OK, fair enough, I was warned, and sometimes SHhhh..."STUFF" happens, thats fine. Lets fix it and move on. BUT, then it gets frustrating. When I sent the item back to get my refund, they (the re-seller Electro Galaxy) are now charging me a restocking fee... for an item that sometimes works, and sometimes doesnt... SO.... if you want to avoid the excess charges, hassle of filing a complaint, and just get something that works, DO NOT buy this unit (or anything else from Electro Galaxy).
Recording made very easy!!!! January 27, 2008 My two kids just started talking and saying the cutest things. I found that these were audio memories that I wanted to keep and playback for them when they were older. I started recording them in GarageBand using a Logitech USB microphone connected to my MacBook Pro. This gave me great quality but I wasn't able to chase them around and capture truly candid moments.
I had seen this product in the Apple store several times before, but never thought I would have a use for it. However, since I was already accustomed to carrying around my 8GB iPod Nano around with me I thought this would be a convenient product to use.
The first positive experience with this produce is how easy it is to set up. Literally, all you have to do, is plug the unit into the bottom of the iPod and the iPod brings up the voice recording screen. Exporting recordings was just as simple. I plugged in my Nano to my MacBook Pro and it created a new playlist where it keeps all of my audio recordings. I'm able to edit the names of the files and add extra information very easily.
I think the only shortcoming this product has is the sound quality of the microphone; which can easily be remedied by adding a different mic. I found that the volume on the recordings if my children were standing right in front of me was a little sparse on the volume.
Bottom Line: This is a great product due to its ease of use and durable quality. I'd recommend this to any student who wants to record lectures, podcasters who want to record on the go or parent who wants to record their kids talking about mermaids and kitties.
