Portable 500GB Hard Disk. January 9, 2009 Two years ago I bought the 230GB version, and last year I was looking for a newer WD Passport model with much more capacity. As soon as I saw WD lunched the 500GB version I don't doubt a second and bought it. I have now the product for more than 2 months, and as my old drive, the new one is working flawlessly. I use it in the same way as many people uses USB flash drives, with the only difference I have much bigger space for music, videos, mails, etc. Now I'm just waiting for the 1TB version... I would highly recommend this product.
Don't buy! Terrible product, terrible service! January 8, 2009 I bought this product brand new and after only 5 days the drive had a catastrophic failure. I spend over $150 trying to recover the data, but all was lost. Western Digital refused to help me in any way and didn't offer any compensation. DON'T put your life on this passport - it is not reliable! DON'T buy this product!!
Horrible Product and Customer Serivce. My 500G Passport Broke down after 5 days. January 8, 2009 DO NOT BUY ANYTHING from Western Digital. Unreliable and they have the horrible customer service. I bought a hard drive (500G) from them that broke down after 5 days. They told me that it wasn't their fault and refused to help. HORRIBLE experience. I lost 500 gigs of data.
worth the price January 6, 2009 I brought this hard drive for storing and transferring my data. It works pretty well with my Dell laptop. Pros:- 1. very small and handy 2. no additional power needed
Cons:- 1. Slightly slow in data transfer rate, it took about 20 minutes for transferring 20 GB of data) 2. the USB cable is slightly small
Haven't used the sync software hence no comments on that
Good size, memory for a long time... January 6, 2009 I already had bought a WD HD (120 GB). Then, I decided to buy one with more memory (500GB). It's excelent!
