Good mp3 player, scrolling is boring though December 20, 2008 I've had this mp3 player for almost a year, I doubt anyone's lining up to buy it anymore, but it's still a good deal. Like others have said, it's worth praising for its slimness and style. You can't feel the buttons since they're touch-sensitive and it's hard to guess so you'll have to take the player out of your pocket to mess with it. That's okay though, I knew that going in. The downside, for me, is the laborious scrolling. It's got one speed folks, so if you want to go looking for a song under "Tracks" it will take forever if your player's filled up. You're better off searching by "Artist"... but if you had set "Shuffle" then it will now only shuffle songs under that artist, so you'll have to go back to the full "Tracks" listing, where it starts you at A, from A-Z. (While you can scroll backwards into Z when starting at A, it takes forever to get to M.)
I don't like the SMS software, but that's okay! I just use Windows Media Player for viewing/adding songs/creating playlists. The sound quality is excellent, I don't use the earbuds they sent with the mp3 player (JBuds stay in my ear better and allow you to set the sound at a lower volume for the same loudness).
That's my take on this player, let me know if there's any firmware that allows me to speed up the scrolling.
Beware! known problem with yp-k3 November 4, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have owned the 4gb yp-k3jab for over a year now but a couple of days ago it just wouldnt turn on - i charged it thinking its battery might be flat (even though it had just been charged). After a full 24 hrs of charging i realised it wasnt going to charge fully. I tried once again to turn on but wouldnt work. After some internet research i realised this was a known problem where pressing the reset button sometimes fixed it. However in my case it didn't work.So I rang Samsung who were unable to help but referred me to a service centre - they quoted $60 just to look at it prior to a quote. So I have a broken samsung mp3 player to go with my broken samsung mobile. Obviously I will be steering clear of their products in the future.
Love It! October 30, 2008 I love this MP3. It has everything - including touchscreen (which is the new fad). Store a lot of songs, pics, etc. No problems with it at all and I've had it for a while now.
Samsung YP-K3 October 14, 2008 Great MP3 player, but the EmoDio software is the worst I've ever used. I've had countless problems with it (the software). At this point, I am not sure dealing with the software is worth the hassle of owning this MP3 player.
my daughter loved it May 12, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
My daughter had to have one of these after seeing her friend's. She loves the interface and additional space over her old iRiver U10, and despite the fact I knew we ordered it used, the product was in such great condition it wasn't possible to tell the difference looking at it. Saved lots of $$, happy daughter, and very fast shipping.
