Product Description Intended for people at great distances from the transmitters, the DB8 is our most powerful multi-directional HD antenna. In fact, its 15.8 dB gain make it one of the most powerful multi-directional antennas available. The bow tie design of the DB8 uses triangular elements instead of rods to greatly increase the bandwidth allowing it to cover the entire UHF band. Additionally, the mesh reflector of the bowtie is more efficient than a rod reflector, is lower in weight, and provides less wind resistance for greater performance and durability. This DB8 is the ideal antenna for use in locations that can pull long range signals from various directions and offers an attractive alternative to using a directional antenna mounted on a rotator.

not multidirectional put on rotor September 2, 2010 john I have not found anything as of yet that helps with the reception any better than my old analog att. No matter what I do or add signal strength goes up and down all the time. But its better than paying for their cable, dish or direct tv.
What you NEED to know = FAIL, bigger isnt better! August 12, 2010 reluctant techie (olympia, wa) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
You would think bigger would be 1)easier to point & 2)better at pulling in all stations?? READ ON....
Having been happy with my antennas direct db2Antennas Direct DB2 Multi Directional HDTV Antenna I decided to step up to this awesome-looking antenna. I figured it should be at least twice as good at getting the fringe channels but I was wrong!
DB2= 33 channels
DB8= 27 channels, with an extra channel at 55 but awful VHF (channel 4-13) response
both were mounted in the exact same position and angle with the same antenna amplifier and cable run.
Here is the deal: the DB8 was engineered poorly. It is more directional and doesn't perform well at all for channels under 40. Here is the proof: "google" "db8 compared to db2 temporary" to find a comparison of this antenna with the DB2 (hdtvprimer dot com). Here is a summary from another page on that website:
"All the 8-bay makers seem to be copying each other's mistakes. The DB-8 has some of the same harness errors as the 4228HD. Replacing the harness with two baluns and a combiner would make it the same as the old DB-8. But the DB-8 is not fixable. The DB-8 dipole elements are only 6.2 inches long, compared to 8.0 inches for the 4228. This biases the DB-8 toward the higher channels. The DB-8 was always a bit weak below channel 40. Now that channels above 51 are gone, it is no longer a reasonable antenna, even with the harness fixed. Some day AntennasDirect will figure out that they have to rescale this antenna."
Want more info? I WISH I HAD GOOGLED THIS BEFORE I BOUGHT THE DB8: "8 bay antenna shootout".... from the #1 & &2 result:
"Conclusions
How do they rank? Over the majority of the UHF band the Channel Master appears to be the better performer. The caveat is that above (about) Ch 40, the Antennas Direct DB8 excels. Also, because the DB8 exhibits a slightly stronger signal over most of the band below Ch 40 than the Winegard HD-8800, the DB8 appears to rank second, the HD-8800 third."
The above quote is backed up by screenshots of an oscilloscope. Call me gullible but I always trust the guy with an oscilloscope backing up his words.
Conclusion: Unless all your channels are above 40 (!) then keep moving and highly consider the Channel Master 4228HD Long-Range Outdoor Rooftop HDTV AntennaChannel Master CM-4228HD. The channel master has its own faults but at least it is still functional! And most people are going to need a preamp for their antenna, the channel master 7777 Channel Master CM7777 Titan2 VHF/UHF TV Antenna Preamplifier with Power Supply (Grey)RULES all geek forums for "deep fringe" areas. Its little brother is better for people in urban areas.
Hope this helps, This was my FIFTH try at getting an antenna that works! And SHAME ON antennas direct for calling this a 'multi-directional" antenna - cause it ain't!!!
antenna July 31, 2010 Jeffery P. Payne (detroit,mi) works great, light weight, grabs signal from all directions, just need a straight pole to attach to.
Great antenna July 26, 2010 Nipper This antenna is lightweight and easy to assemble, the picture quality is great, and I consistently receive signals from transmitters 80 miles away.
Antennas Direct db8 July 15, 2010 wheels67 Great buy, installed in my attic and we are over 60 miles from transmitters. Recieve more than 20 channels. Clear and with a very strong signal. Very glad I got this. Now we can watch local TV when the Dish goes out.
