Poor antenna October 18, 2008 I wanted an indoor antenna for my new HD TV so save the cost of cable. I hooked up the Philips PHDTV1 Indoor antenna to the ANT input and tried every location inside my 3rd floor apartment. I even got a long coaxial cable and tried it outside on my balcony, but still only a very fuzzy picture. I could get nothing resembling a watchable picture. I will let a friend try it and if it doesn't work for them, I will have to return it.
This thing is a piece of garbage October 16, 2008 I already had purchased a cheaper antenna from Wal-Mart and was pretty happy with it so I thought I would get something a little more expensive thinking it would be even better. After searching Amazon and reading the reviews, I decided on this antenna. Once I received it, I was so, so disappointed. It doesn't holda candle to the $15 Phillips antenna I bought from Wal-Mart. This thing is actually useless as I don't pick up any channels that I already picked up without it and the ones I get are no clearer than they were. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS!
Just what I needed October 13, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I had been trying to get satellite television in my new apartment for over a month, and the new seasons of my favorite local shows were starting. A co-worker mentioned he plugged some rabbit ears into his TV that was in a room that didn't have a cable connection and got HD free over the air. It was then I remembered my boyfriend's TV had a built in digital tuner. I did a little research (antennaweb.org) and found I needed a medium directional antenna with pre-amp to get all the channels I wanted. I search for that here on Amazon, and this is what came up. For only $25, what a deal. With my Amazon Prime trial and discounted 1 day shipping, it came just in time for the beginning of the new season of shows. It works beautifully. The digital picture is amazing, I can't believe it's free. The channels we don't get are simply not being broadcast in digital yet. Totally worth the $25, even if you're using it as a temporary fix while waiting for a more permanent TV solution like me... though this will make you think twice about paying for cable. Make sure to do your research to make sure this type of antenna will work for you, your location and your TV.
Great Antenna for HDTV October 11, 2008 This is the 2nd one of these that I have purchased and they work great. I use them with my HD TiVos to get my local HD channels over the air. This will not work in all cases as you have to have a pretty straight shoot toward the antennas you want to recieve. I actually have mine in a closet on ethe first floor and it has no problems picking up my local channels. You also can not beat the price.
Phillips PHDTV1 Digital Antenna October 6, 2008 I bought the antenna because I had gotten one of the digital to analog converter boxes. I had read that a regular tv antenna could work, and found that for some channels it did. I am far enough away from the transmitters that I needed a better antenna to get some stations. With this antenna I can pick up all the local stations and occasionally some that are on the fringe range. The price is good and the product does what I needed so for me it was a good purchase.
