Great reception and easy install July 15, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I researched many options and price ranges for the right antenna before buying this one. I am an average of 30 miles and 182 degrees from all the towers in Dallas (I'm north of Dallas). I wanted to try it in the attic first even though the outdoor location would get a better signal. That's one reason why I bought an antenna that is rated for signals much further away than mine are. I bought an inexpensive shower curtain rod and screwed it to the ceiling joists with 3 pipe fasteners. I placed it towards the front of the house and in front of all the duct work. So the only thing blocking the signal is the roof.
It pulled in all the digital stations perfectly with 70-80% signal strength - more than enough to lock onto the signal. No blocking, ghosting, or any problems. I'm glad I don't have to mount it outside because this thing is huge and it gets very windy in Dallas! There are no trees or large buildings in the path of the signal. I'm not sure if buying a larger antenna than what was needed helped the signal strength in the attic but at this price ($49) it was worth a try. The pay off is no visible antenna, great signal and no weather worries. If you place in your attic, make sure you have about 5 cubic feet or more available and no metal obstructions.
It works July 14, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
It works. I have it hanging inside my apartment as I live in a bad spot for Digital TV reception. I wish I could stick it out side but that is against the rules. It was about thirty bucks or less than one month of Cable, I get 23 channels.

Great Antenna for DTV June 27, 2008 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
I just got this today since my rabbit ears were not receiving Digital TV signals very well. I put the antenna together within 15 minutes (WARNING: the directions could be much better!--if you are not technically inclined, you may experience problems putting the few pieces together for the UHF signal--the VHF part of the antenna arrives pre-made). I put the antenna in the attic and was worried since we are surround by buildings. Using antennaweb, I pointed the antenna in the proper direction for the stations I wanted and voila, we are receiving perfect digital signals--all crystal clear. For $30, you can't beat this antenna.
My only complaint is that the directions for assembly are not clear, but if you look at the picture on the box, it is not difficult to figure out Philips's hieroglyphs. Also, for some reason one of our local stations is broadcasting its digital signal on VHF (most are UHF)--other antenna's wouldn't receive it, but this one does.
The antenna also comes with a splitter, so you can split your signal for your FM radio.
Surprised At The Reception! June 21, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I have three analog TV's with matching VCR's hooked up to Comcast basic cable. When I installed the Philips MANT900 antenna on the roof of my one story house I pointed the antenna in the direction of the stations suggested on the Antenna Web map. I had previously applied to this website for the TV station locations in relation to my house. I live approximately 50 miles from Miami and the signal reception for digital far surpasses anything I've seen so far, including Comcast cable. I hooked up an AB switch to alternate between analog and digital. The analog signal is no comparison to the digital, but I still can record on my VCR for the time being. I thought the assembly instructions for the antenna were confusing so I referred to the picture. After I installed a splitter I noticed no reception on channel 2, PBS Miami, on the TV's furthest from the antenna. I read a review that recommended using a signal booster. I hope that works. As far as the antenna quality, the analog reception is reminiscent of the signal I received before we had cable. The construction is flimsy, but so are antennas costing a lot more. For the $40 price, I was able to find out that I can pick-up 37 local stations with exceptional picture reproduction and spending more in the future on any up-grade would be worth pursuing. In case you are wondering, you can hook-up your TV antenna to the existing cable connection. It's the same RG-6 cable at 75 ohms that connects to the antenna fitting.
Worth every penny, but it's only $29! June 15, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I purchased the DB4 multidirecitonal antenna from Amazon and it didn't work at all (even when I had it on the roof). I sent it back as it had a money back guarantee (thanks amazon). Ordered the Philips antenna and with the wifes help had to together in about 20 minutes. It was an instant sucess. Holding the antenna seven feet above the ground I was getting stations 60 miles away and through my shop which is on the east side of our house (you can't see the horizon from where the antenna is located). Pointed it at Laramie Peak and could get NBC which is 90 miles away. I can't wait to get it up on the roof with a rotor. You can't go wrong with this antenna. It's certainly worth the $29 cost and with Amazon's money back guarantee you can't go wrong. Also, according to the directions this antenna will receive HDTV signals. If you are looking for a low cost way to improve your picture quality this is a must buy antenna.
