great small remote August 14, 2008 This is a great small remote. Does all the functions as a larger one but closes to half the size. Great not to have that big clunky thing sitting around!
not bad! April 27, 2007 This is a not a bad second remote controller, but I don't recommend it as a substitute for a lost controller, the reason is the device is not too sturdy and in will not stand for every day use.
One thing you will not know until you have bought the device is that it uses 2 the coin type lithium batteries. I personally do not like to go shop for these batteries, as they may not be as readily available as the AA or AAA batteries.
Convenient and Fun February 23, 2007 As I sit here with my remote in hand I am thinking of ways to improve it. Perhaps an lcd display to scroll through name brands to select the write code I wouldn't have to carry around the folded sheet of paper with literally hundreds of device codes(most brands use the same codes over and over), but the remote is well designed and very economical as it is. I bought the remote at a brick and mortar store for the purpose of using the remote to change the volume or channel of televisions in restaurants in public. I don't do it to offend others as I usually eat my lunch at 2 in the afternoon (I swear it's the best service and selection.) Unless one if familiar with slider phones, and I am not, you'll spend a great deal of time sliding the bottom in and out. It is helpful that the setup button is located on the lower level near the bottom as when fumbling around looking for the right button to push will not delete the code already set. I do wish GE and other companies would post their code sheet online at this moment I've lost mine. My remote, which is the one offered for sale, fits in my little coin pocket and easily hides in the pocket of my hand. I enjoy the design because if I'm not familiar with an area channel lineup I can keep the remote in compact mode and just surf from one channel to another. I miss having the codes...this afternoon I was forced to watch "Rome is Burning" because I didn't have my list and the restaurant didn't know where their remote was...great remote.
